Russell & Ruby Smith

THP UK Rough Runner 2019

UPDATE - Ruby and I are fundraising for the Hunger Project UK - Supporting Girls Lives Matters!

We did it! Ruby and I successfully managed to complete the Rough Runner course to raise money for The Hunger Project.

Ruby made us proud by finishing as first girl in the kids race and didn't even get wet! I managed to get up the travelator at first attempt but couldnt avoid fallen into one of the muddy water pools ......

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SO GENEROUSLY DONATED,  it means a lot to us and also means that The Hunger Project can contiune their great work.

Donation page will be open for a few more days, so if you still would like to donate, go ahead :)

Together with my daughter Ruby I am doing the Rough Runner obstacle course run in Morden Park on 6th October. Ruby and I are fundraising for The Hunger Project which is a charity that does amazing work to support girls and young women growing up in poverty worldwide.

After raising 3 boys in my first family (Elliott, Ross, George, now grown up young men), I feel a real sense of fortune, privilege and responsibility to now have a beautiful girl, Ruby, 9 years old, as part of my second family - as well as another much loved boy! (Levi, 6 yrs old).

It means a lot to me that Ruby grows up knowing that she can do anything in her life, supported by me, her Mum Silke and her older siblings. Ruby is very much aware that there are girls her age that are less fortunate, growing up under difficult circumstances and not being allowed to follow their dreams.

This is why Ruby and I have signed up as a Rough Runner to take part and raise money for this important cause.

So please give what you can, as every amount, no matter how small, makes a difference!

What impact will your donation have?

£25 could fund functional adult literacy training for two women so that they can learn to read and write.

£30 could provide one woman with a microfinance loan and financial literacy training so she can start a small business, earn an income and support her family.

£65 could train a local volunteer leader who will educate mothers about the importance of pre-natal care to ensure their babies are delivered safely.

£125 could train one Elected Woman in India to be an effective local council member and ban child marriage in her community.

Every pound counts! Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
