Join the global movement against hunger
I am taking part in City Against Hunger to fundraise for The Hunger
Project, who are committed to eradicating hunger.
The Hunger Project was set up with stated intention of empowering people
to end their own hunger. In practical terms this means education. Teaching
people the knowledge and vital skills needed to eradicate starvation.
The Hunger Project operates in 22 countries in Africa, South Asia and
Latin America. An example of the work can be seen in India, during its time in
the region The Hunger Project has educated and empowered local woman in 1,979
communities to help them meet the hunger needs of their rural village. The
reach of these 1,979 woman is 9 million people. This demonstrates how
empowering people to end their own hunger can reach many.
We are looking to help The Hunger Project by sponsoring the City
Against Hunger event, a 5k mud run that gets individual teams out of the office
and into chest deep puddles of mud and grime.
Please help us do our bit for those less fortunate than us.
Below is a demonstration of how your donation can make a difference.
£25 could fund functional adult literacy training for two women so that
they can learn to read and write.
£30 could provide one woman with a microfinance loan and financial
literacy training so she can start a small business, earn an income and support
£65 could train a local volunteer leader who will educate mothers about
the importance of pre-natal care to ensure their babies are delivered safely.
